This Purim, we invite you to join us in giving to some of the neediest of needy Israelis. Together, we really can save at least one Jewish life! Your gift can help spare an unborn baby from abortion because the parents have decided they can’t afford it. ON THE HOLIDAY WHEN GOD’S VICTORY OVER THE PLANNED MURDER OF JEWS IS CELEBRATED, HOW CAN WE IGNORE THE ONGOING MURDER OF JEWS BY JEWS IN THEIR PROMISED LAND TODAY? Please read on…
This year the biblical feast of Purim will be celebrated on March 12-13. Purim is based on the book of Esther. You can access general background on the holiday here. Purim celebrates God’s covenant faithfulness, turnaround victory, involvement in our lives during times of hiddenness, and much more. For now, however, we want to share just one aspect of the holiday about which some Christians are unaware: giving to the poor. Jewish tradition teaches that on Purim we are to rejoice, read the scroll of Esther, give gifts (usually food) to each other—and give to the poor.
This Purim you have the opportunity to join us in giving to some of the neediest of the needy in Israel: unborn Jewish babies threatened by abortion.
Sadly, many state subsidized abortions take place in Israel “simply” because the baby’s parent(s) feel they cannot afford the child. Babies with so-called birth defects are also often aborted, partly due to the financial cost of supporting special needs children. The concern is not unfounded. Despite Israel’s overall prosperity, the country has the highest poverty rate among all economically developed nations in the world. (http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4753118,00.html.)
Messianic and other Israeli pro-life organizations work tirelessly to save these unborn innocents. Often this means providing un-aborted babies with milk, food, clothing, toys and other essential supplies. We want to help save the lives of unborn Israelis by making a substantial donation to one Messianic and one non-Messianic pro-life organization. On this holiday when God’s victory over the planned mass murder of Jews is celebrated, how can we ignore today’s ongoing murder of Jews by Jews? What evil and potentially murderous spiritual repercussions result from this daily blood sacrifice in the Land? Let’s come in the opposite spirit of murder this Purim and minister life — specifically as One New Man in Messiah.
