TEN DAYS OF AWE ALERT: What does the Bible say about the US striking Syria?

In recent days, many have noted that the Hebrew Scriptures refer prophetically to the future of both Damascus and Assyria. But these references, to be honest, are oblique. Although the Bible does not seem to directly address the current crisis in Syria, I believe God’s Word does speak very directly to the dilemma Americans face.

I BELIEVE THE MOST DIRECT AND RELEVANT PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE SAYS: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14). There’s probably no more appropriate time to humble ourselves, prayerfully seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways than during the Ten Days of Awe. (These are the ten days on the biblical calendar between the Feast of Trumpets and Day of Atonement.)

Americans are facing a critical crossroads and there’s no good path—in the natural—to take. If the US strikes Syria, a regional if not global conflagration is likely to result. If the US does not strike Syria, a regional if not global conflagration is also likely to result. Perhaps not immediately, and perhaps not inside Israel (yet). But the absence of any world power willing and able to stand strong for righteousness in the face of extreme evil will inevitably lead to a conflagration of lawlessness. The future of the US and the world is at stake.

Friends, I belong to a people with a 4,000 year long history of rebelling against God. Yet even in judgment, He has always shown mercy—in some form—to us at the sincere, wholehearted cry of a faithful remnant. Whether or not the US goes to war, if God is for us, who can ultimately prevail against us? Yet God cannot be for us if we, the United States of America, are no longer for God

American Christian leaders have issued a call for repentant prayer and fasting on Wednesday, September 11. Some of our Chinese American friends are hosting a 24 hour conference call prayer gathering that day. Contact me for details if you’re interested in joining. This call is not geared toward any discussion or teaching but intercession. Your prayers do make a difference!

HUMANITARIAN AID FOR SYRIAN REFUGEES:
We recommend donating to The Joshua Fund, www.joshuafund.net, a humanitarian relief organization directed by Joel Rosenberg. Joel dispenses financial and other practical help not only to Syrian refugees, but stands ready to aid Israelis, including Messianic Jews, who may be harmed in a resulting war.

SANDY MINISTERING NEXT WEEK IN ISRAEL:
A week from today I will be in Israel, ministering at a closed leaders meeting Sept. 17-19 and at an open international conference on the Mt of Olives, Jerusalem. The conference takes place at the Seven Arches Intercontinental Hotel, Sept. 20 pm and Sept. 21 am. Hope to see some of you there! And appreciate the prayers of those of you who can’t come.

“Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath, remember mercy” (Habakkuk 3:2).
