ISRAEL PRAYER NEWS - JULY 2008

Praying for the Salvation of the Jewish People
First and foremost, we urge you to pray for Israel's salvation.

  • Romans 10:1 - My heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
  • Isaiah 62:1, 6-7 - "For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch....I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth."

Please pray for an outpouring of God's love and strength in every realm for the Messianic Jewish and Arab Christian body of Israel.

A large American Messianic Jewish organization visiting Israel just issued a formal protest concerning the Israeli government's prohibition against Messianic Jewish aliyah. (A recent Israeli high court decision on the matter, though positive, did not quite open the door to Jewish believers immigrating to Israel.) Please pray for purity in this protest and that God will use it to confound the schemes of the wicked. (Isaiah 66:5)

Purim terror victim and Messianic Jewish believer Ami Ortiz
Fifteen-year old Ami continues to miraculously heal but still remains in a great deal of pain with a great many surgeries ahead. Please pray for his continued, rapid healing and his emotional comfort, for his family's wisdom and strength, and for the merciful justice of God to prevail in the situation. It appears the police are covering up the facts underlying the attack, most likely because Jewish anti-missionaries perpetrated an attempted murder against the Ortiz family on account of their faith. The Ortiz family has hired a private criminal lawyer. (Please pray according to Isaiah 53:4-5; Philippians 1:27-29; James 5:14-16; 2 Timothy 3:12; Matthew 5:44; and as the Spirit leads.)

Pray for Prime Minister Olmert, who is willing to relinquish the Golan Heights to Syria and 91 percent of Judea/Samaria, including East Jerusalem, to the Palestinians in exchange for a promise of peace. (Jerusalem Post Online, 5/25/08) Attempts are underway toward removing him from political office. Last month the Olmert government negotiated a "truce" with Hamas, the terms of which Hamas has already breached as rockets continue to be shot from Gaza into Israel. Please lift up the Israeli government as we petition God for righteous leaders. (1 Timothy 2:2; Joel 3:2; Zechariah 12:6)

Iranian President Ahmadinejad continues to proclaim and move toward his vision of a Middle East without Israel. The nations of the world take no visible action to counter his proclamations or the progress of his nuclear ambitions. Ask God to mobilize the international Church to take action. Also pray for a spirit of righteousness and boldness on Israel, that she may take appropriate and effective measures as God would lead. Last month more than 100 Israeli fighter jets participated in a massive exercise that US military sources say was training for a preemptive strike against Iran's nuclear facilities. Verbal backlash from the nations for this exercise came hard and swift. Israel was warned (not just by Arab, but also by Western countries) that an effort on her part to militarily take out Iran's nuclear weapons capacities would result in their blaming her for the inevitable conflagration in the Middle East that would follow. Let us not assume, as did the Church of Europe before the Holocaust, that a Jewish genocide could not or would not take place. Rather, if we've learned from history, we will assume such a genocide could indeed take place and soon. Please pray ~ and act as God leads. (Psalm 83; Psalm 2; Zechariah 1:14-17; Psalm 91:1-16; Psalm 68:1-4, 28-35)

Israel is currently experiencing an extremely serious drought. This month the Sea of Galilee, the nation's water supply source, is expected to drop below the point where further pumping becomes impossible. The country could experience a drought of unprecedented proportions because of a relatively dry winter that followed several dry years with little rainfall. Lord, let it rain! (Hosea 6:1,3; Zechariah 10:1)

A severe earthquake potential currently exists in Israel. Seismic activity in and around Israel greatly increased last month. Since at least one major fault line runs through the tiny nation, it is attempting to prepare for a severe earthquake which scientists believe could occur at any time. (Haggai 2:6-7)

Last month a 2,000 year old seed seemingly miraculously sprouted in Israel. The amazing, life-bearing date palm seed was discovered in Masada, an ancient Jewish defense stronghold and national symbol of faith and courage. The seed was carefully cultivated and has now grown into a sapling. May ancient seeds of courage prophetically symbolized by the Masada spirit sprout once more over the Jewish nation, the planting of the Lord! (Zechariah 10:4-5; Psalm 144:1)

Isaiah 66:10 - Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you
who love her; rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her.
